Junk Food, Seriously?

by Sylvia on February 19, 2012

Hey, we have all been guilty of eating junk food. Some of us find out how bad it can be and stop eating it, others know how bad it can be and continue eating it and then there are those who have no idea that junk food is bad for them and that is all they eat. There are people who are addicted to junk food. Yeah, I know those chips taste good in our mouths. Junk food tastes good. However, did you stop to think that food tastes good only in our mouth? Once you chew it and swallow it, it’s over! So for a few seconds that it takes to taste, chew and swallow, you might be doing damage to your overall health. We have heard the reports on eating red meat. We know it’s bad for us but we continue eating it. Grilled meat. Yum! Processed food. Sugar! Yeah, all taste good for a few seconds but the damage that they leave behind in our bodies is not all that good. Is it worth it? A report I just read on pancreatic cancer states that red meat, processed food, sugar, alcohol are all culprits of pancreatic cancer.
Ever go to a fair and see all types of junk food being offered? Fried twinkies, fried avocado, giant donuts. I know that these foods would give us a few seconds of WOW! in our mouths but then once you swallow them, then what? It is not worth it. What if you knew ahead of time that you were going to get pancreatic cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure? Would those few seconds of good taste be worth it? Probably not. Did you ever see a fair that had nothing but veggies, fruit, yogurt, salads, tofu, gluten free items, whole wheat grain for sale in the booths? NO, and you never will because no one would show up to the fair. Junk food attracts us and we crave it. I really think that as long as your body was getting super nutrition everyday, as in the Body by Vi shake with its protein, fiber, prebiotics, vitamins and minerals, and antioxidants, then some junk food once in a blue moon shouldn’t hurt. Moderation is key. Control is key also. If you can’t seem to stay away from junk food, at least practice some control and moderation. Remember it tastes good for just a few seconds while it’s in your mouth but once you swallow it, the consequences are permanent.
