Secrets of Maintenance

by Sylvia on November 18, 2011

By now, many of us have lost weight and have been happier than we have been in many years. We are wearing smaller clothes and are overall very pleased with the reflection our mirrors have for us. We have discovered we can tie our shoelaces much easier, we can move around more and some of us have discovered that our bodies now have lean muscle inside instead of just flab. Hooray! But now comes the hard part my friends. Maintaining that weight loss and not allowing the pounds to creep back onto our bodies. The holidays are coming and you need to have a plan in place. What will you eat? How much will you eat? How much moving around will you do?
Let’s start working on our brains so that we have a plan in place and we can enjoy the holidays with no sabotage and definitely no guilt. It isn’t going to be easy. But that’s ok. Losing the weight wasn’t easy either so we are used to difficult tasks. After all, it is about us and about avoiding diabetes and heart disease and high blood pressure. First of all, stop thinking you deserve a bag of chips because you have worked so hard. NO! You deserve a healthy life! You deserve small clothes. You deserve a beautiful reflection in the mirror that makes your self confidence rise. Did you know that 54 million people diet every year and yet the obesity rate keeps going up? Why? One small thing, yet big. Self-restraint. I told you it wasn’t going to be easy. Use the same self-control you did for weight loss that you will use in maintenance. 90- 95% of people are unable to maintain their weight loss. Don’t be one of them. Instead tell yourself that you will be the 5-10% that does maintain and can display self-restraint.
Here are some little secrets: continue to eat low fat/high carb foods. Always have breakfast. Have high levels of activity. Don’t turn back into a couch potato. Wear a pedometer and reach 11,000 steps a day. Weigh yourself daily and continue to keep a food journal. The good news is that people who can maintain their weight loss for 3-5 years will definitely keep it off for good.
Now you are saying, “Yes, I can do this!” Do you know why you can do this now? You got it! We have the Vi-Shake. People, we have owned the secret for a while now. One shake a day, everyday, will maintain our weight loss. That’s it. One shake a day. The secret to maintenance is one shake a day. Wake up on Thanksgiving and the first thing you do is to have a pumpkin shake. Enjoy the rest of the day eating whatever you want and do it in moderation. The following day, you will feel so proud of yourself. Remember, you deserve a healthy body not a bag of chips! Happy Thanksgiving!
